Blurb:

"Mom always says the angels walk among us. She forgot to tell me that sometimes they're not all fluffy and nice."

Seventeen-year-old Caleb Wood has seen people he calls the walkers since he was a baby. It didn't take long for him to realize something…no one can see these strangers but him. They never stuck around or tried to touch him. And they never said a word. That was until one day on the first day of class in his senior year when an incredibly gorgeous girl strolls into his life…and things are never the same again.

Soon Caleb realizes he has stepped into the middle of a growing conflict between two ancient groups. And his ability to see the invisible ones, the half-breeds that want to modify the human race, just might be the only hope both he and the mysterious, but infuriating Gia have of making it out alive.

Character Guest Posts: Meet Caleb and Paige!

Caleb Wood Interview

● What’s your favorite color?

Navy Blue.

● What type of vehicle do you drive?

A midnight blue Challenger, of course. **gives me the sexiest dimple grin I think I’ve ever seen**

● Describe yourself to me.

**blushes before he speaks** I don’t know. A serious kinda smart a**, I guess. Maybe too sarcastic about some things. People tell me that I wear my heart on my sleeve. That’s a pretty old term. On the physical side, I’m 6’1. I weigh around 180lbs. I have bluish-gray eyes and dark hair.

● How would your mate describe you?

Um, I don’t know. Maybe she can tell you later on when you talk to her.

● What really moves you, or touches you to the soul?

That’s pretty deep, don’t you think? I’d have to say Edgar Allan Poe poems. And yeah, guys can be into that kind of stuff.

● What's the one thing you have always wanted to do but couldn't? What would happen if you did do it?

Well, um, I wanted to try wave boarding. I don’t know. I guess some part of me just doesn’t work in that way. I guess I just don’t do boards well at all.

● Describe your ideal mate.

**gets this sexy kind of faraway look on his face after I ask this question** Right. So, she’s smart, tough, she can handle my smart mouth. Sometimes I’m not always the easiest dude to get along with. Sexy. You know. I guess I want the works.

● What are you most afraid of?

Losing that person I just described in the last question.

● What's the most important thing in your life?

My family.

● What do you consider your special talent?

Lacrosse. I know it’s considered a cheesy sport by some people, but I’m good at it. I have another talent too, but that’s not something I can talk about here today.

● How did you meet the hero/heroine?

She’s all heroine. In fact, she saves my a** more times than I do hers. Hey! At least I’m man enough to admit it, though. I’ll just say I met her in a classroom and leave it at that.

● Was it love at first sight or did it develop slowly?

I didn’t know how to answer that question then. And guess what? I still can’t answer it now.

● What did you like/dislike about him/her when you first met?

Well, she kinda disappeared behind this thing she calls the Veil. Man, it freaks me out when she does it. Sometimes she’ll just show up out of the blue too. But now, things are different. Something happened, and she can’t use it that way anymore.

● If you were granted three wishes, what would you ask for?

Peace, love, and happiness, my man. What else am I supposed to say? **suddenly I understand why he warned me about him being a sarcastic you-know-what**

Thanks so much for stopping by today Caleb. You seem like a really fun person.

Caleb: And thanks to you for having me on your blog today. I’ll come back and chat anytime you like. You can check out some pictures of my boards here: http://pinterest.com/alestasia/dark-seraphine/

Meet Paige from Dark Seraphine by KaSonndra Leigh

● What’s your favorite color?

Black. What other color exists? Well, maybe red should be given some credit too.

● What type of vehicle do you drive?

I don’t drive. I use another method of traveling. Next question please.

● Describe yourself to me.

**sighs deeply and looks bored** Gothic, impatient, smart, crafty, the list could go on forever. And I don’t wanna bore everybody to death.

● How would your mate describe you?

The last mate that I had cheated on me. So he’s floating around somewhere at the bottom of the sea. **gives me a chilly, evil grin** Moving on time!!

● What really moves you, or touches you to the soul?

Hm. What a tricky question. Depending on who you ask, they might say that I don’t have one.

● What's the one thing you have always wanted to do but couldn't? What would happen if you did do it?

To fall in love. And when I did let that happen, it was disappointing. See the question above for what happened to the guilty mate. **beams sweetly at me, as I shudder**

● Describe your ideal mate.

Is there really such a thing? He’d be flexible and loyal. Or else he’ll be joining the other dude floating around in the ocean.

● What are you most afraid of?

Nothing. And everything.

● What's the most important thing in your life?

My sister.

● What do you consider your special talent?

Being able to fake patience when I don’t really have much.

● How did you meet the hero/heroine?

Who do you mean? That Caleb Wood guy? Gah! He’s no hero. He’s just another love sick idiot. Maybe I’ll put him at the bottom of the sea too. But then, he has a pretty strong protector. I’ll think of something. **rubs her chin**

● Was it love at first sight or did it develop slowly?

It’s always either love or lust at first site. You’re kidding yourself if you think it happens over time.

● If you were granted three wishes, what would you ask for?

Power, more power, and all the power. Enough said. **grins and runs her finger along the sheath containing her sword. Yikes!**

Thanks so much for stopping by today Paige. You seem like a really, eh-em, unique person.

Caleb Meets Paige

The redhead from Gia’s group, the one they called Paige stepped toward me. A strange girl that hung out with a gang of Walkers posing as humans showing up at my house can’t be a good thing.

“What’s up, Paige?” I asked nervously. Something about the way she stalked toward me without saying another word bothered me. With her fiery red hair flapping in the wind, she kept her gaze locked on my face and held her hands out to the sides. The streetlights played on her pale skin, giving it a weird glow. There was nothing normal about her.

I walked backward until my backside hit the tree behind me. Next thing I knew, my body was pinned against it. Some kind of invisible force held me down. I couldn’t move an inch. My injured arm throbbed under the pressure. I clamped down on my bottom lip. Whatever she did was crushing me.

“What the—what are you doing to me?”

I wanted to slam my hands over my ears. There was this ringing in my ears that hurt like crazy. Not only did it echo in my mind, but the throb also made me feel like someone was shaking my head, turning my brain into mush.

“I want you to remember tonight, Caleb. When you fall asleep, the things you forgot will begin to come back to you,” Paige said in what sounded like a chorus of demonic tones from hell. Seriously, I felt like somebody threw me into one of those stupid Saw movies that Kyle and Shani liked to watch all of the time.

“Can a get a little hint on what I’m supposed to remember?” I said through the pain.

She gave me a wicked smile. “I need to know a tiny thing—an insignificant little nuisance, really. I need to know the name of the one who watches over you.”

I made a light laugh, even though not a thing was funny. She was talking about Gia’s real name. I was pretty sure of it. “That’s easy. Her name is Gia.”

“That’s a fake human label, and you know it,” she hissed. The pull on my injured arm deepened to a dizzying level of pain. I cried out.

I liked it better when the Walkers were quiet little spirits drifting through my room, minding their own business, and leaving me out of their issues. Now, here I stood with my body pinned against a tree and getting tortured by weird bell noises. Note to self: Gia’s got some real explaining to do tomorrow.

“Caleb!” Mom called. Her voice had never sounded so sweet. And this was coming from a guy who would never in his life admit that. Well, not out loud, anyway.

Paige scowled and hissed just before she jerked her face back toward me.

“I’ll return soon, handsomely one. Get the name.” She moved real close to my body. I wanted to throw up because my stomach turned with nausea and my voice caught in my throat. This chick was bad news all year long.

“Don’t feel sad. If she doesn’t want you, then I’m waiting patiently in the wings.” On that note, she kissed my cheek with her lips that felt like ice cubes. A strange odor surrounded her. It reminded me of salt water and some other strange smell.

Excerpt

There was no one in the classroom besides the two of us. To admit this girl made me feel a little shaky sounded weak. I put on a manly face, squared my shoulders, and sat in the desk behind her. The little kid in me still wanted to run away like a baby, though.

And then she laughed.

It was a high-pitched giggle, a normal girl’s sound. That wasn’t right. I don’t remember any of the other spirits laughing before.

“So you wanna run from me, huh? Go ahead. I’ll just find you like I always do, Caleb,” she said, still facing the chalk board in the front of the classroom. Her voice was smooth like a musical instrument, maybe a flute. Nah. It was more like a harp. I could listen to it all day.

But even her sexy pipes didn’t change the fact that she just read my mind. How did she do that?

“Are you going to run, or stay? I need a quick answer, because I have a lot to do today.” She turned her head to the side a bit.

“I don’t run from anything,” I said, trying to ignore the prickle in my underarms. Good thing I used my dad’s deodorant this morning. That old-timers stuff was strong enough to knock out anything.

She didn’t scare me as much as some of the other walkers, my nickname for them. But I wasn’t ready to get her digits either. As a baby, I remembered talking to a few of them. That ability disappeared sometime around my thirteenth birthday. This was the first time I spoke to one in four years.

“What are you people: angels, ghosts, or zombies?” I asked, my voice squeaking on the last syllable. What a dork.

“Can’t you be a little more creative?” She turned around in her seat to face me, an amused expression on her ridiculously gorgeous face. I sucked my breath. Her strange amber-hazel eyes pierced through me. The word beautiful didn’t do enough for this walker-girl.

“I thought I was pretty creative,” I said.

“Nope. Your ideas suck,” she said with a smug face.

“Nice. Thanks,” I said, getting annoyed.

“And I don’t sparkle in the sun, either. So scratch that one off your list too.”

I frowned. “Then tell me the right answer. And you can go ahead and explain how I won the honor of being stalked?”

“I’m a creative mix of many things. Feel better now?” She tilted her head. Blue-black hair flowed around her face as if it were made of silky thread. “So others have come before me?” She seemed to be talking to herself rather than asking me.

“Maybe,” I said. Why should I tell her everything? One thing I did know. At this rate, I was probably going to be committed to the loony ward on the first day of school.

“I’m going to need your help soon, Caleb. You have to be ready,” she whispered, her face suddenly serious. Right then, I knew my world was about to change…forever.
